The war between EC and CM Chandrababu Naidu may not see end anytime soon. Babu had written to EC alleging on functioning of EVMs and VVPATs. In its reply letter, EC asked how can Hari Prasad (who raised concerns on EVMs functioning) who had criminal antecedents be a part of Naidu’s delegation during the latter’s visit to the poll panel on Saturday.
EC in its letter stated that AP CM was accompanied by Hari Prasad who raised technical issues regarding functioning of EVMs and who claimed of possessing technical expertise in the area.
The letter stated that it was decided that Prasad would be given a detailed briefing by EC’s technical team regarding all apprehensions of the EVMs.
But the letter clarified a person with criminal antecedents does not inspire confidence and raised doubts on how Hari Prasad was part of Naidu’s delegation.
Earlier Babu met Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora in Delhi and submitted a memorandum alleging that a large number of EVMs malfunctioned during polling in the state on Thursday and that the inadequate security led to incidents of violence in the first phase of polls.
