Vijay Deverakonda is back to entertain the audiences. His latest offering Geetha Govindam hit theatres across the globe today. The Telugu Rom-com features Rashmika Mandanna of Kirik Party fame as the leading lady. Let’s find out how the film has fared.
Govind (Vijay Deverakonda) is a carefree young guy and falls in love with Geetha (Rashmika), a balanced no-nonsense girl. The problem is she doesn’t think highly of him. Will Cupid strike? Will she reciprocate his love? How does a guy who’s carrying a casanova tag manage to impress the girl? Watch the film to find out.
Vijay Deverakonda proves that his innocent looks can help him carry off any kind of a role and he does come up with all necessary commercial hero expectations too. He looks like a complete package who can act, dance, fight and most importantly romance convincingly on screen.
Rashmika Mandanna is the blessing in disguise for this movie. She performed really well as Geetha and the way she delivered few lines with straight face yet showed what is going through in character’s mind, she seems to be all set to take over the top position among the new entrants.
All others like Rahul Ramakrishna, Subbaraju, Nithya Menen, Annapurnamma and Vennela Kishore deliver their best.
The biggest strength of the film is killer soundtrack. Gopi Sunder has given three super hit songs. “Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavale” is haunting melody and the other two songs “Yenti Yenti” and “Vachindamma” are equally melodious and peppy.
Cinematography by Manikandan is neat. Editing is okay. Dialogues are adequate enough. The film has decent production values
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika
Some portions in second half
The movie starts off on a good note. Full marks to Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika for carrying the entire film on their shoulders. The duo’s chemistry stands out as the highlight of the film. The first half is hilarious and pacy. The scenes between the lead couple evokes laughter and youngsters can relate to this! However, it’s in the second half that the story loses its plot. However, Geetha Govindam is an honest attempt to offer a Rom-com and succeeds at that. A thorough entertainer except in parts where the scenes feel stretched.
Verdict: It’s been a while since we saw a Telugu Rom-com like this. Go watch to have some fun.
